Ethnic and culture dviersity

In the south african americans are considered less then humans and started their full time work till death at the age of 12 on the plantation or if they are lucky in the owners houses cooking and raising the owner's kids.
In the north while still considered property, most enslaved persons in New England enjoyed greater legal standing than slaves elsewhere in the colonies. They could sue and be sued, and they had the right of appeal to the highest courts. As in the south, however, they suffered harsh treatment and couldn't bear arms and sometimes they revolted, but white men would kill them for it.

Agriculture and industry differences

PLANTATION life created a society with clear class divisions. A lucky few were at the top, with land holdings as far as the eyes could see. Most Southerners did not experience this degree of wealth. The contrast between rich and poor was greater in the South than in the other English colonies, because of the labor system necessary for its survival, and the south largest export is tobacco.
In New England the puritan lifestyle took over and everything is going the puritan way.

The Role of men and women

MASSACHUSETTS BAY COLONY is a man's world. Women don't participate in town meetings and are excluded from decision making in the church. Puritan ministers further MALE SUPREMACY in their writings and sermons. They preach that the soul has two parts, the immortal masculine half, and the mortal feminine half.
In the south since most indentured servants are male, there are far fewer women in the colonial South. In the Chesapeake, men entered the colony at a rate of seven to one. From one perspective, this increased women's power. They are highly sought after by the overwhelming number of eager men. The high death rate in the region result in a typical marriage being dissolved by death within seven years. Consequently there is a good deal of remarriage, and a complex web of half-brothers and half-sisters evolved. Women need to administer the property in the absence of the male. Consequently many developed managerial skills. However, being a minority had its downside. Like in New England, women are completely excluded from the political process. Female slaves and indentured servants are often the victims of aggressive male masters.

Religious differences

In the south where i came from there was religious freedom, Maryland Began as a Catholic experiment , and most of the southern states had religious freedom but here in New England puritan lifestyle took over, now people have to be taxed more in order for government to build schools because the puritans wanted to make sure their children can read the bible.

i just started my journey to mass bay colony

I am going to leave Virginia to emigrate to the Mass Bay Colony up north in New England, Stuff hasn't been  going very good here in Virgina for my family and my cousin that lives up in New England told me his last visit to Virgina that stuff has gotten better in New England with the arrival of the Puritans and that they just destroyed the Pequot trip and that its way safer to live there than down here. I will leave with my family, i will miss my friends and job down here in Virginia. Hopefully I will have a better luck up there in Mass Bay Colony.
